Large Pattern Installation

Follow these "Tape Stabelizing Method" instructions for easy and accurate installation of large-scale patterns and designs.

Position the pattern exactly where it will be adhered with the transfer tape side up and the pattern showing through. Once the adhesive Modello is applied to the surface it can't be moved. It is critical to get it placed correctly, so measure carefully and snap lines if necessary. Use smaller pieces of tape to secure and run a larger piece of tape across the middle of the pattern, securing it to the floor.

Burnish the transfer tape to the Modello to ensure an easy release of the backing paper.

Flip the Modello back on itself and burnish the backing paper side as well.

With the Modello pattern laying on the floor begin peeling the backing paper slowly from the loose edge, pulling it back on itself at a 180-degree angle.

Cut the backing paper off with scissors or an exacto at the secured tape edge.

Pull the Modello taut from the free edge while smoothing and burnishing with your hand first at the taped edge. It is helpful to have one person holding the free edge to control it while another person smooths the Modello gradually down onto the surface.

Burnish the Modello in place. Notice the "seam". If you have carefully line-up and placed the Modello, your edges should line up fairly easily.  Once the transfer tape is removed, these edges can be lifted and readjusted slightly. Small pieces of tape can also be added.

Remove the tape from the center and flip the Modello back from the other side.

Remove the backing paper for the other side by again slowly pulling it straight backfrom the secured "hinged" edge.

If another set of hands isn't "handy", we've found it very useful at times to hold a large Modello in our hands and smooth it down with stocking feet!

A damp (not dripping) sponge run over the surface of the transfer tape wil help to loosen the adhesive.

Pull the transfer tape off from one edge, straight back on itself at 180-degree angle.
