 McClintock
This warm, rich "Concrete Carpet" was created using the McClintock design along with a "pattern inlay" effect. We incorporated Superfine Sgraffino, a cementitious overlayment from Colormaker, along with Patina Etch acid stains.
The first layer of Sgraffino was acid stained in contrasting colors in selected areas. Note that the center medallion and corner areas are colored differently!
The Modello patterns were then installed and another layer of overlayment applied. When ready, another round of acid staining was applied. After neutralizing and allowing to dry, the Modello patterns were removed to reveal the previously stained surface below.
With this method of using the design as a "mask" (negative weed), the pattern appears to be incised into the surface.
