Shanghai

This warm, rich-looking floor using the Shanghai  carpet design graces our offices and was our first foray into decorative concrete.

The old concrete was primed and overlayed with products from Bella Vernici during a concrete training class.

After scoring the border, the band and center panel were treated to contrasting acid stains.

The border design was positively colored using the same dark stain color as the center. The addition of Modello Gel-lo helped to keep the brushed-on stain from "wicking".

The center medallion and corner motifs were gel-etched using an acid gel product from Surface Gel Tek. To achieve the mottled appearance, the acid gel was sponged on and immediately removed with a plastic trowel.
